Gregory Lee Paxton was born on August, 14, 1950 to the late Quentella Hurt and Charles R. Paxton, Sr. in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away at his residence on June 14, 2025.
Gregory "Red" Paxton was raised and educated in Lewisburg, but moved back to Chicago as a young adult. He returned to Lewisburg in 1972 and resided here until the time of his passing. Gregory loved people and always made time for conversation. He never met a stranger. Red (as he was affectionately called) made weekly trips to Walmart and could always be seen talking to someone in the store.
At home, Gregory loved his pets. He also enjoyed the internet. He could tell you a little bit about everything from the latest medical research to politics. His brother often called him "Dr. Gregory». Throughout his lifetime, Red worked a variety of jobs - including: maintenance, truck driver, supply delivery, pouring concrete, running a game room and taking care of horses.
Gregory was preceded in death by one sibling: Charles R..
Patton, Jr., stepmother Louise Paxton and a beloved friend Annette Hargrove (whom he provided care for until her time of death.
Gregory is survived by two brothers: William Paxton (Bernice) of Chicago, Il, and Walter Lee Ewing (DeShawn) of Belfast, TN, one sister Jacqueline Paxton of Chicago, IL., and a sister-in-law Catherine Paxton of Chicago, IL. Red, also leaves to mourn his passing several nieces and nephews,
