Albert D. Whitaker, of Petersburg, age 100 passed on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching baseball games, gardening, and spending time with his family.

His dear wife, Rosa Lee, and one daughter, Annie Louise Davidson preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one son Lawrence Whitaker, wife Stella of Lewisburg, five grandchildren: Sharon Whitaker Leavell (DeCalvin) of Murfreesboro, Lorraine Davidson Holston (Andrew), Stanley (Tammy) Davidson, Lawrence (Charity) Davidson, of Detroit, Michigan and Lydia Davidson, Florida; nine great-grandchildren: Melissa, Maia, Delecory, Diamond, Xaneveya, Portteia, Lucas, Dyland and Cynthia; one great-grandchild, Dustin; two dear friends: Jerry and Della Beech of Chapel Hill, TN and host of friends and other relatives. He will be immeasurably missed and remembered.

He will lie in state on Saturday, October 5th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at the Mayberry Family Life Center. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 noon. Bro. Chris Whitaker will present the Eulogy. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.
